What a QR code stores
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode. It can encode URLs, plain text, contact details, email or SMS instructions, WiFi credentials, and location data. It stores data, not the website or PDF itself.
How the grid works
Three large corner patterns help a scanner find and orient the code. Timing and alignment patterns help it sample the modules. Data and Reed-Solomon error correction are encoded with a mask pattern; damage is only recoverable within limits. More content and higher error correction generally mean a denser symbol.
Static versus tracked codes
A static code stores its final content directly and cannot be edited after printing. A tracked URL code points through a service that can record scans or change destinations. QRMage static downloads are free; optional account-based tracking and paid analytics are separate. Static codes do not supply scan analytics.
Business cards, menus, and marketing
Use a vCard for networking, a stable menu URL for table cards, and a mobile landing page for flyers. Product packaging can link to instructions, support, or warranty registration. Keep destinations short, useful, mobile-friendly, and available long term.
Events and check-ins
Link to schedules, maps, registration, or feedback forms. Ticket validation requires a separate check-in system; generating an image alone does not authenticate a ticket.
QR codes for wedding photos
Create a shared album and check its permissions. Enable guest uploads in the album service if desired, then encode its link and test while signed out. QRMage links to the photos and does not host them.
Scanning and troubleshooting
Use your camera or built-in QR scanner, improve lighting, clean the lens, and hold steady. A clear preview can still lead to an inaccessible page: test sharing permissions and the complete mobile journey. Recheck long-lived links periodically.

Can I scan without internet?
Text, WiFi credentials, and vCard data can be decoded offline. Opening a website or hosted PDF requires internet.
